Start investing in rental properties by buying a home By Paul Beauchemin The new stimulus bill includes an $8000 tax credit for the purchase of your first house. If you've ever thought of investing in rental property the first step that most investors take is to buy a house, fix it up, live in it a year then rent it out. You can then buy another home and get the homeowner interest rate. Don't buy a property and fraudulently claim that you will move to it. But if you can move from house to house and keep your old properties, you can build an investment portfolio. Interest rates are at historic lows and property values have plummeted making it a great time to start.
